Notes on May 16, 2008

For the practical purpose in managing this ECC, I think it would be better if we set the deadline [participants' comfirmation]; say 2 days before the meeting, so we will have ready had the list of the participant on Mondy. I expect that every Monday aftrernoon (14.00) we knew the number of participant. As in our agreement in the first meeting that this EEC will be run if we have at least purely 3 participants and I think the optimum number is 10 people. If more than 10, say 19, I think it would be better if the group is splited. So we have two groups instead of one. As your suggestion, may be the group can be splitted ‘naturally’ based on their ‘keberanian berbicara’.
For the practical purpose too, I have already told Pak Dindin and Bu Ade if your partner in running this ECC now is Pak Dindin even though Bu Ade is still involved. However, anytime both of you have an “e-mail communication” on this activitiy, please. cc, your e-mail to me and Bu Ade. The rest, you can freely talk to Pak Dindin. e.g. about the confirmation on number of participant, room, etc.
One thing that I should do may be is to remind Bu Dini (Vice Rector II) about my e-mail that I sent on 14 May 2008. I have not received any respon from her even though my e-mail is specifically addressed to her and I mentioned explicitely about her opinion to use the ‘lunch’ hour one a week. Even though the planned alocated time is our “rights” but I do not know whether she is OK or not with our activity. Should we interpret ‘diam berarti setuju’. Hopefully. I hope so. I think may be she does not have time to open or reply that e-mail considering the enormous formal important things to do by her as Vice Rector II. It is, for sure, about priority. I absolutely understand about it and so let me ’sms’ her just asking for one word. (the ‘ok’ word) for our ECC.
By the way, I wonder why there is no news from Bu Durri, the one who support the idea of ECC in the beginning?. The last time I heard from you that you also have invited her to join the last meeting. She must be very busy perhaps. Did she tell you something about why she could not come? OK you do not necessaily answer this question. I think we understand the situation.
OK Pak Diki. Have a nice day today and holiday tomorrow: Waisak day when we can see the beautiful full moon in sky that I always admire. If the sky is dark, once I read on Budha’s saying: the moon does not go, it is still there and shining; it is only covered by the cloud.

2nd Meeting

These are conlusions of our English conversation meeting.

1. The meeting took place on Wednesday May 13th from 12.30 to 13.30 at the
PSDM. It was attended by 8 participants; Diki (Pusmintas), Toha (PSDM), Avi
(Distribusi), Dhany (Puslata), Hasanuddin (Fisip), Yudi Efendi (Fisip),
Dindin (PSDM).
2. The name of the activity is EC Club (pronounced as “easy”).
3. The chairman of the club is Diki (Pusmintas), while the secretary is Avi
4. Everybody must speak English. However, is allowed to attend the meeting
for listening only. If it is difficult to find the correct word, there
should be a warning, prior to speak in Bahasa Indonesia. Otherwise, there
will be a fine of Rp. 100,.
5. In each meeting, every participants will be given a chance to talk. It
can be telling stories or suggesting an idea. If necessary, the plan can
be adjusted to motivate the participants.
6. Beside the regular meeting, occasional outdoor activities are discussed.
It is also possible to utilize the multimedia facility at the library.

1st Meeting

The talk started at 17.00 and ended at 18.15.
The conlclusion:
1. The Conversation Club (CC) would be held on every Wenesday at 12.00 – 13.00 /lunch hour in Meeting Room Gedung PAU 1st floor
2. There should be a commitment from the participants that they will spend time only one hour
3. Toha should ask for approval from Vice Rector II about the CC
4. If it is approved, Toha will annouce and anyonie can join by ‘register’. Since the participant is voluntary basis, the term ‘register’ here is used just for the practical purposes in running the meeting such as the sufficiency of the available room.
5. The topic is open and the conversation could start from any topic come out in the meeting
6. The second meeting will be held on Wenesday, 14 May 2008. in PPSDM Meeting Room, PAU Build. 2nd Floor. The participants, for the time being, invited by phone by the people who attended in the first meeting (Diki, Nasrah, Ade, and Toha)
