4th Meeting

The meeting was attended by 6 people (Hasan, Dany, Diki, Zainur, Yudi, and Toha). Toha himself came late since he tried to finished his work on library due to a power blackout in PAU Building. Diki said that the problem in recruiting new participants for this ECC is the reluctantness or shyness of the invited people. It seems that there is a general misperception among the some invited people that the ECC is the advanced english club and provided for the certain qualified people. Diki said some people thought that it is too ‘high’ for them. When some of us mentioned a name, as an example, it sounds strange because in our perception that person should be very capable of speaking English. Above all, that is the reality. Some suggestion came out and some of them are the ECC can take place in faculty or in the Preview room in Library building where the situation could be more relax.
The meeting was quite short because Yudi inviated the participant to join Pak Mike course [the lecturer from Florida State University who gave training to UT staff]. Yudi have already talked to Pak Mike that they only join in the presentation session which takes time not more than one hour. They leace PPSDM on 12.45.

3rd Meeting

The participants who attended the meeting on May 14th were: Diki, Hasan, Yudi, Dindin, Avi, Zainur, and Toha; seven people. The conversation began with the first three coming people (Diki, Zainur, and Toha). We are talking about anything related to our job including discussion about Online Examination. According to some people, what we do actually not Online Examination but Computer Based Examination since it is done in LAN and the UPBJJ staff sent the disk contains the result of the examination to UT. The conversation was getting hotter when Hasan provided a case which required each of us to respond.
The case is simple (but the answer might be not): If your mother is severely sick and she will die if you do not hospitalize her. The problem is you could not affrord because the hospital cost is beyond your reach or extremely expensive. So… what will you do if there is a rich man come to you and say he can help your mother. He will pay for the hospital at any cost because the most important is the recovery of your mother . You could only accept his offering under the condition: you should marry his daughter who is pregnant; left by her boy friend.
The discussion is hot because the participant could freely express their opinon. Hasan said that the case actually is about two choices. If you choose one you should sacrifice the other. (it is about 1.responsibilty/caring for mother and 2.self esteem/marrying the pregnant daughter of the rich man, “apa kata dunia?”).
